As we enter a packed week 18, we stand at a historic moment. We started the week with Monday off in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Tuesday, Barack Obama was sworn in as president of the United States. This is something that many of us here in South L.A. never believed would happen. It is an inspiration to the youth here that anyone can make it. In addition, we also will be having club sign-ups this week, and the Student-Staff Football game. It is a busy and historic week.

Awards Assembly 8:10 am
We had a wonderful assembly to honor outstanding academic performance for Quarter 1. The assembly was sponsored by Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier and included a guest appearance from Kim Kardashian. Our top 3 students with 4.0 averages received clothing, skateboards, and Macbooks! Furthermore, out top 6 students all received extra clothing and skateboards. Every student received a gift bag that included two shirts, a hat, a belt buckle, a beanie, and socks! Christian Audigier helped us show the students that hard work and getting good grades does pay off and does have benefits! Animo Locke II sincerely thanks everyone involved! Holiday and Parent Informational 8:42 am
We are entering our 15th week of school as we near Winter Break. A reminder to students, keep in mind what we discussed at our school wide assembly. We want to keep our behavior on point. Many classes will have tests and quizzes this week, so it is very important to stay focused! 
Holiday 3:25 am
Midterms are over, much to the relief of the students! That means we have the start of a new quarter. We are starting quarter 2 on Monday. Also, we have a different schedule for this week. Here it is:
Monday: All 6 classes
Tuesday: Periods 1-3
Wednesday: Late Start, Periods 4-6
Thursday: Holiday
Friday: Holiday

field trip Clippers 8:55 pm
Animo Locke II was able to take a select group of students who have been doing well or have shown improvement on a trip to see the Clippers play the Golden State Warriors. Althgouth the Clippers lost, we had a good time going out to eat, checking out the game, and hanging out together as a school. Last week, we also had trips to the opera in Santa Monica, a Latino mens’ conference, and the the UnveriSoul Circus. Overall, we are trying to provide as much as possible to our students, and they are having a good time!

community Homecoming 8:23 am
Animo Locke II had a great showing at the Homecoming Parade on Saturday! Our princes, Marcos and Devante, and our princesses Johanna and Tashaniqua, along with Zhjadae rode in the convertible through the parade waving at the crowd. Aubrey and Luis performed in the band. Savonnah performed with the Flag Team. Latierra represented for the Drill Team. Jessica N. and Scharmika were there with the JROTC. Overall, we had a great time! Check out some of the pictures!

Spirit Week and Uncategorized Spirit Week 3:29 am
Almost 2 months into the year, and we are having Spirit Week!!! We kick it off with Opposite Day. Students will wear clothes backwards and inside out to show school spirit! Here is a list of what each day will be:
Monday: Opposite Day
Tuesday: Twin Day
Wednesday: No School
Thursday: Sports Day
Friday: Mix Match Day
We also have Homecoming on Saturday! We will have the parade and game on Saturday, and then the dance that night! Check back for pictures from each day of Spirit Week!
Animo Locke II is starting its sixth week. Students are starting to adjust to the school. Edgar Perez shows his pride on his blog at http://eperez2.tumblr.com/. We have many events coming up, including a school dance, spirit week, and homecoming. There are ups and downs, but overall, we are pushing forward in the right direction! Go Saints!

In one week, Animo Locke II will have been open for one full month. The school is in full swing! Students have homework, teachers are working hard, and administration is managing the whole thing! Last week, we had an excellent Back to School Night. Families were pleased with the level of organization and education at our school! We already are almost half way through the first quarter! Grades are getting updated as well. To check your grades, go to the link on the left side of the page (http://ps.greendot.org/public/). Check the school schedule for the user name and password.
